About
Josefstal
1852 – 1963
Josefstal, also known by its’ Russian name of Skripalovo, was founded in the year 1852 by German colonists. It was located near the Volga River in the Tsarist Province of Saratov.
The year 1941 saw the entire German population of this village and the other German colonies banished to Siberia. Russian and Ukrainian settlers moved into the homes and farms of the former residents. In 1963 Josefstal was destroyed, in keeping with the Soviet plan to abolish what they considered non-productive small villages.
Josefstal was part of the Catholic parish of Marienfeld, which also included the Catholic population in the Russian city of Kamyshin.

Hi!
I am looking for my family history. My grandfather was born in Josefstal on March 15,1908. His name was Henry Dieser (Jr.). His father’s name was also Henry Dieser and his mother was Anna Schafer b. Oct 15,1888. If you have any information connecting them to your Dieser relations, I would be very eager to hear of it. The photo of the three women which is “unkown”- the woman on the right looks similar to my great grandmother Anna Schafer, however I only have a few photos of my own to go on. The date would help determine if it is even possible. Elaine
I found this wonderful site today and finally got to see a picture of my great uncle Josef Hoffman–this is my dads uncle whom he never got to meet adn there is a striking resemblence of my father and his uncle. This would be my dads fathers brother, my grandfathers brother. I would like more information on Josefs family and what happened to his wife and children–i can also send some pictures of Josefs brother who was killed in an automobile accident and his nephews and nieces. If you could help me in this quest it would be truly appreciated thank you!!!!!!!!!!!Tina Hoffman-Raymer
